Lunchtime Hero Volunteer
VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
- Sign in at the front office upon arrival
- Bring a valid Picture ID each time you volunteer
- Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to get settled
- Only registered volunteers may participate
- No children (including younger siblings or non-school children) may accompany you
- Volunteers must use the restroom by the front entrance (never use student restrooms)
- Volunteers must remain in the cafeteria at all times – please do not wander the school
VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
- Support and assist all students, not just your own
- Walk around the cafeteria to check if students need help
- Be a friendly, positive role model with smiles and encouragement
- Learn the student hand signals:
- Two Fingers = Additional snack or tray from the cafeteria line
- Crossed Fingers = Bathroom request
- Five Fingers = Needs assistance (milk, snack, or other help)
- Follow the student bathroom system:
- One boy and one girl may go at a time
- Look for the bathroom passes by the cafeteria doors
- If the pass is gone, the student must wait until it returns
- Remember: there are always two paraprofessionals in the cafeteria with you – ask them for guidance when needed
